CENTRAL BANK TO HOST KNOW YOUR
MONEY SEMINAR AND
EXHIBITION OF WORLD CURRENCIES
Barbadians will learn how to protect themselves from
counterfeiters when the Central Bank of Barbados presents its
annual Know Your Money Seminar on Wednesday, June 14,
2006 at 9:00 a.m. in the Frank Collymore Hall of the Tom Adams
Financial Centre.
The
seminar, part of the Central Bank’s public outreach programme,
will be conducted by Mr. Damian Kwiatkowski, Regional Manager
for De La Rue Currency, the printer of local banknotes.
“Our
goal is to make people completely familiar with the design and
security features of our notes so they won’t fall victim to
counterfeiters,” explained Miss Octavia Gibson, Deputy
Director, Currency Division.
In
addition to the seminar, the Bank will host an Exhibition of
World Currencies, which will feature legacy and current
banknotes and coins from more than 100 territories. “We’re
excited to be able to display currency from nations as diverse
as Qatar, South Africa and Slovakia, and we hope Barbadians will
take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn more not only
about money but also about these countries,” Gibson said.
The
exhibition will run from Monday, June 12 to Friday, June 16 in
the Grande Salle of the Tom Adams Financial Centre and will be
open from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. daily.
For
more information on the seminar and exhibition, contact Miss
Sherri Bishop at 436-6870 ext. 6348.
