To this end, each year the Bank hosts at least one major seminar, conference or workshop to address issues of national, regional and international import. Sir Winston Scott Memorial LectureThe annual Sir Winston Scott Memorial Lecture has become a major educational presentation putting Barbadians in direct contact with the leading thinkers of our times. The lecture series was inaugurated in 1976 to honour the memory of our first native Governor General, the late Sir Arleigh Winston Scott, and at the same time to honour our nation’s Independence. The Lecture takes place in November. (see list of all lectures delivered to date) Schools’ Lecture SeriesThe Public Affairs and Research Departments organize regular sessions on how the economy works. The target audiences are students from the island’s secondary schools, the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic and Barbados Community College students. University in the CommunityThe Bank, in collaboration with the University of the School of Continuing Studies, sponsors monthly lunchtime lectures at which University professors share their research on topical issues. |
