Career Opportunity: Deputy Director, Projects

The Central Bank of Barbados is seeking to fill a post of Deputy Director, Projects, in its Strategic Planning and Risk Management Unit, Governor’s Office.

Job Summary

The initiation, implementation, monitoring and reporting of prescribed projects 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing strategic and operational project plans to ensure that plans are viable in terms of objectives, scope, costs, resource requirements, quality, and timeframe.
  • Ensuring that all projects are achieved and delivered within the agreed scope, time, cost, and quality by monitoring the progress of projects’ implementation and reporting on projects’ portfolio status. 
  • Collaborating with Bank-wide Management, the project officers and owners, and staff to devise, develop, and deliver appropriate systems to enhance project management and decision making 
  • Keeping abreast of developments in strategic planning and project management and advising on methods to enhance project implementation 
  • Assisting in the management and monitoring of the department’s performance, strengthening operational efficiency, and nurturing and motivating of staff in alignment with the Bank’s strategic objectives
  • Contributing to the Executive Management team’s efforts by accomplishing any other related duties as assigned

Relationships

Establishes and maintains good working relationships with members of management, staff and external stakeholders. 

Education/Experience

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent in Project Management, Business Management, Finance or a related discipline
  • A project management certification (PMP) and at least five (5) years’ experience in a project management and evaluation or similar environment 

OR 

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Project Management, Business Management, Finance or a related discipline
  • A Project Management certification (PMP) and at least seven (7) years’ experience in a project management and evaluation or similar environment
