Career Opportunity: Director, Foreign Exchange and Fund Management

The Central Bank of Barbados is seeking to fill a post of Director, Foreign Exchange and Fund Management.

Job Summary

To provide leadership and expertise in the formulation and execution of exchange control policy and in the administration of special financing funds.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Administering the Exchange Control Act Cap. 71 and market intelligence related to foreign exchange inflows and outflows
  • Providing leadership and expertise in the formulation of exchange control policies and their implementation
  • Directing the preparation and interpretation of exchange control circulars as well as compliance matters related to the existing exchange control legislation
  • Authorising foreign exchange applications in accordance with the prescribed exchange control circulars
  • Promoting and overseeing the operating framework for the special financing funds
  • Applying the relevant technical and professional competency to keep abreast of significant developments in the foreign exchange market
  • Leading the development and management of action plans and budgets for the department in relation to the Bank’s strategic plan
  • Maintaining responsibility for the assessment, development, and management of employees’ performance
  • Contributing to the executive management team’s effort by accomplishing any other related duties as assigned

Relationships

Establishes and maintains good working relationships with members of staff and public and private sector officials.

Education/Experience

  • A Master’s Degree in Economics, Accounting, or Management Studies or a professional qualification in Banking or Accounting and seven (7) years’ experience in a senior management position

or

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting or Management Studies or a professional qualification in Banking or Accounting and ten (10) years’ experience in a senior management position
  • A very good working knowledge of the local financial system is essential
  • Knowledge of the regional and international financial system would be an asset
