Henry Ohlsson, Deputy Governor of Sveriges Riksbank, Sweden’s central bank, will be among the presenters at the Central Bank of Barbados and Financial Services Commission’s 10th Domestic Financial Institutions Conference. Speaking on the topic “Payment Systems in a Cheque-less and Cashless Society”, he will share his country’s experience with the transition to electronic payments.
“Sweden is a leader in the adoption of e-payments and is widely considered to be on track to become the world’s first cashless country,” said Novaline Brewster, Chief of Corporate Communications at the Central Bank. “We will get to hear what drove this transition and what the implications are. This promises to be a thought-provoking session that can provide insights as we in Barbados prepare to move away from cheques and to further embrace new payment systems.”
“While the conference is invitation only, we have decided to stream this session, as well as a few others, on the Bank’s website, Facebook page and YouTube channel so that anyone who is interested can watch.”
Other sessions being streamed include a keynote panel entitled “Repositioning Barbados’ Financial Sector” and an update on the economy.
