The Central Bank of Barbados is seeking to fill the post of Financial Controller, Accounts Department.
Summary of Job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the accounting operations of the Bank including managing all aspects of the Bank’s accounting functions and overseeing the development, implementation and maintenance of sound financial accounting systems required to maintain reporting structures and sound systems of internal control.
Essential Functions/Key Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions and key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Preparing financial reports in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards and the Bank’s internal and statutory requirements
- Preparing the annual audited consolidated financial statements of the Bank and overseeing the independent audit while ensuring that the Bank complies with its statutory reporting requirements
- Analysing the Bank’s operating results in terms of performance against budget, reporting variances and implementing corrective measures, where necessary
- Performing financial risk management for the Bank
- Preparing the annual Administrative Budget and financial forecasts for presentation to the Board of Directors
- Developing, implementing and monitoring the systems of internal control and ensures compliance with all financial policies, rules and regulations
- Streamlining accounting functions and operations, when necessary
- Providing strategic recommendations to the Governor and members of the executive management team.
- Maintaining responsibility for managing and monitoring the Accounts department’s performance, in alignment with the Bank’s strategic objectives, and for nurturing and motivating staff
- Contributing to the executive management team’s efforts, by accomplishing any other related duties as assigned
Education/Experience
A professional qualification recognised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados or an equivalent professional body with ten (10) years’ senior management experience in an accounting or finance position

Compensation
Salary and benefits, including Group Life Insurance, Group Medical Insurance and Pension will be in accordance with the Bank’s policy.
