The present publication chronicles current efforts to find a practical solution to the problems of unsound currencies in the Caribbean. One by one the strongest currencies of the region were filled by their governments' fiscal excesses, financed by money created by the Central Bank over the latter's hapless protests. Those currencies that have not been depreciated have been the subject of rumour, speculation and apprehension, leaving the East Caribbean dollar (for the time being) the only bastion of confidence in the Caribbean. What is to be done about this unsatisfactory situation?
