This paper aims to provide further evidence on the empirical applicability of the operational expectations - permanent income hypothesis (hereafter REPIH) within the context of less developing countries (LDCs). It expands upon a similar study done by the authors for the Caribbean region {see Craigwell and Rock (1990)} by including data for several Latin American countries.
