Central Bank of Barbados to Visit Bridgetown Businesses During “BiMPay Walk”

The Central Bank of Barbados will take to the streets of Bridgetown on Friday, November 14, 2025 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., for the “BiMPay Walk." The activity aims to raise awareness of the national instant payment system among businesses and to answer questions about the system in advance of its March 2026 introduction. The outreach follows the Bank’s participation in the September Small Business Week roadshow which businesses and communities in St. James, St. Andrew, and St. Peter.

On this occasion, teams from the Bank will visit establishments along Roebuck Street, Marhill Street, Swan Street, High Street, Palmetto Street, Broad Street, and Spry Street, engaging directly with shop owners, employees, and customers to share information on how BiMPay will work and the benefits it offers.

“The BiMPay Walk is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that Barbadians understand and feel confident about this major step in modernising the way we pay and get paid,” said Novaline Brewster, Director of Communications, Information and Outreach at the Bank. “We’ve already had very productive stakeholder engagements with commercial banks, credit unions, payment service providers, Government entities, and private sector associations. We’re continuing to take that conversation to the public.”

BiMPay will enable individuals and businesses to make and receive payments instantly, securely, and across participating institutions. The system represents a major milestone in Barbados’ digital transformation, offering faster transactions, improved convenience, and greater efficiency in everyday commerce.

“The feedback from our previous sessions has been invaluable,” Brewster added. “This Bridgetown walk allows us to continue building awareness, answer questions in real time, and ensure that everyone –from large business owners to small vendors – understands how BiMPay will make payments easier.”

The Bank encourages business owners to look out for its outreach teams during the BiMPay Walk and to take the opportunity to learn more about how the system will benefit them.
