Career Opportunity: Deputy Director, Instant Payments System Services Unit, Banking, Currency and Investments Department

The Central Bank of Barbados is seeking to fill a post of Deputy Director, in the Instant Payments System Services Unit, Banking Operations, Public Debt, Banking, Currency and Investments Department.

Job Summary

To provide leadership and managerial support to the IPS Payment Services Unit

 

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Influence and contribute to IPS Services strategy, evolution and maintenance

 

  • Manage the IPS Product Development and IPS Business Operations sections and supervise, plan for and lead teams in the execution of assigned projects

 

  • Manage the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the IPS payment systems and services

 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective participants, partners, vendors and other key stakeholders and extend professional network

 

  • Manage the budget and resources of the IPS Business Services and ensure that expenditure is in line with budget limits and financial governance

 

  • Measure and monitor the performance and outcomes of the IPS Payment Services Unit and take corrective actions where required. This may include using various tools and metrics to track and evaluate the effectiveness of the IPS Payment Services Unit activities and initiatives

 

  • Foster a culture of innovation, learning, collaboration, and customer satisfaction within the IPS Payment Services team and across the organisation

 

  • Review and/or draft clear and concise guidelines, policies, procedures and reporting requirements as required and ensure alignment with international standards, best practices and legal and regulatory framework

 

  • Coordinate the collection and analysis of data and information to determine trends, issues, risks, payment system and service providers and compile reports for senior management

 

  • Keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in payments and technology, attend payments conferences to enhance knowledge and represent the Unit in seminars and conferences as assigned

 

  • Participate in committee or working groups created to collaborate with the competent authorities in the field of payment and securities settlement systems, as well as with the operators of infrastructures, systems, their participants, services and issuers of instruments

 

  • Contribute to team effort by performing any other related duties as assigned

Relationships

Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with the Senior Management, Department Heads, Staff and external stakeholders

Education/Experience

  • A Master’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics or Accounting or a professional qualification in Banking / payment systems or services and at least five (5) years’ experience in a banking, payment systems and payment services environment

 

OR

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics or Accounting or a professional qualification in Banking/payment systems or services and at least seven (7) years’ experience in a banking and payment services environment

 

  • Proven track record of success in a management role
