The Central Bank of Barbados is seeking to fill a post of Senior Systems Administrator, Payments IT Support Services Unit, Management Information Systems Department.
Job Summary
The planning and supervision of the work of the Systems Administration and Technical Support Section, and oversight and supervision of work done by the Services Officer.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities include:
- Planning, organising and monitoring the work of the Systems Administration and End-User Support Section to ensure that a high quality of service is provided to our clients
- Establishing and monitoring the compliance of standards related to backups, security, and remote access in keeping with good IT governance
- Supervising and performing systems administration duties for network operating systems thus assuring the continual and effective delivery of applications and services to staff and external customers alike
- Monitoring the installation, configuration, and distribution of personal computers/laptops and other devices to maintain consistency and homogeneity in a standardised IT environment that is user friendly and manageable
- Providing and supervising technical support to desktops computer, network, and telecommunication services including VPN to ensure continued legitimate connectivity to information systems across the organisation from any authorised location or access point, either locally or globally
- Providing and supervising technical support for computer software and hardware while adhering to strict licensing and maintenance agreements formed with our vendors, suppliers, and/or manufacturers
- Coordinating and supervising the administration of the hotsite including the business continuity planning, procedures, and operation of critical IT services in an effort to provide business entities the ability to activate IT contingency plans at any time that is deemed necessary
- Supervising the administration of the Server and Network data centre in providing a central nucleus and repository for the distribution of information, IT services, and integrated resilience
- Supervising the administration of the laptops, computer equipment assets, and supplies in maintaining an inventory system that is used to keep track of equipment and supplies according to regulations and to inform the equipment procurement process
- Supervising the coordination and delivery of IT training to staff by the Service Officer and other members of the SATS section
- Conducting and supervising research into and evaluation of new information technology systems to position the department to make informed decisions on future ventures and strategies for the Bank
- Performing any other related duties as assigned
Education/Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent and five years’ relevant experience and certification in at least two operating systems, e.g. CNE, CCNA, M 365, Windows Server Administration, MCSE, UNIX/Linux
OR
A Master’s degree in an information technology-related field and two years’ relevant experience and certification in at least two operating systems, e.g. CNE, CCNA, M 365, Windows Server Administration, MCSE, UNIX/Linux
- Formal training in supervisory management
- Knowledge of Azure and M 365 technologies would be an asset
- Experience in ISO 27001/2/ITIL is an advantage
- Minimum years’ working experience in Windows 2019/2022 Server administration

Compensation
