The Central Bank of Barbados’ 6th Distinguished Visiting Fellow has Begun Her Visit

The Central Bank of Barbados’ 6th Distinguished Visiting Fellow, Dr. Linda Tesar, has begun her two-week visit to Barbados.

During her stay, Tesar, a professor of economics at the University of Michigan, will meet with Government and Central Bank officials and representatives from the private sector, as well as conduct sessions with Central Bank staff, the Barbados Economics Society, international tax experts, and students from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill.

“My conversations with acting Governor, Michael Carrington and acting Deputy Govenor, Michelle  Doyle-Lowe and the head of the Bank’s Research and Economic Analysis Department have given me a better understanding of the issues and challenges Barbados is experiencing,” said Tesar. “I look forward to discussing these issues with the different stakeholders and with the public during the Caribbean Economic Forum.”

The 2019 Caribbean Economic Forum will focus on the topic “In a World of Rising Debt, How Can Caribbean Countries Stay Afloat?” It takes place at the Courtney Blackman Grande Salle on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on television and radio stations across the region as well as livestreamed on the Central Bank’s website and Facebook page. During the 90-minute event, Tesar will be interviewed by veteran regional journalist, Julian Rogers, and will also take questions from the live studio audience as well as via email, Facebook, and telephone.

Register today to attend the forum by emailing dale.christie-bourne@centralbank.org.bb. Please arrive by 7:00 p.m.
