Andrew K. Rose is the Central Bank of Barbados’ 5th Distinguished Visiting Fellow

Andrew K. Rose, the B.T. Rocca Professor of Economic Analysis and Policy at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, is the Central Bank of Barbados’ 5th Distinguished Visiting Fellow.

During his two-week visit, Rose will be the special guest of the 2018 Caribbean Economic Forum, where the topic will be “Looking Forward: How Caribbean Nations Can Respond to Global Developments.” The forum will broadcast live on television and radio stations across the region, and also livestreamed on the Central Bank’s website and Facebook page. Veteran regional journalist Julian Rogers will moderate the discussion.

In addition to participating in the Caribbean Economic Forum, Rose will meet with senior government officials and have sessions with the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Barbados Private Sector Association, members of the financial sector, and Central Bank of Barbados staff. He will also conduct a webinar for undergraduate and postgraduate students at all three campuses of the University of the West Indies.

The Central Bank’s Distinguished Visiting Fellow programme began in 2014 and is intended to expose Barbadians to eminent international economists. Previous fellows have included Dr. C. Fred Bergsten, founding director of the Peterson Institute for International Economics; Dr. Peter Blair Henry, Dean of New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business; Dr. Simon Johnson, Ronald A. Kurtz Professor of Entrepreneurship at the MIT Sloan School of Management and a former Chief Economist at the International Monetary Fund; and Dr. Patrick Honohan, former Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland.
