Barbados will soon welcome the Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, Dr. Patrick Njoroge, who will be on a two-day visit to the island starting September 9. During his visit, he will be hosted by Barbados’ central bank governor, Cleviston Haynes.
In a series of meetings over the two days, the two governors will discuss matters of mutual interest to both countries, including opportunities for direct investment, trade, and cooperation on efforts related to anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT).
Haynes and Njoroge will also engage on the topic of mobile financial services and financial inclusion. Kenya is one of the world’s biggest users of mobile money.
Njoroge’s visit to Barbados follows one by Kenya’s president, Uhuru Kenyatta, who was in the island in August for a three-day official visit.
