The Central Bank of Barbados is deeply saddened by the passing of Sadie Dixon, Secretary to the Board.
She joined the Bank in 2006 and, over the years, became a trusted colleague and cherished friend to many. A highly respected legal practitioner with more than 28 years of experience, she brought exceptional skill, insight, and dedication to her work.
Sadie’s expertise in legislative drafting helped to shape and strengthen many of the laws that guide Barbados’ financial system, including the Financial Institutions Act, the National Payment System Act, and the Central Bank of Barbados Act.
Following the news of her passing, Governor, Dr. Kevin Greenidge said: “We will remember Sadie not only for her intellect and professionalism, but also for her warmth, infectious laugh, and genuine interest in the wellbeing of her colleagues and their families.
“Sadie gave generously of her knowledge, mentored others with patience and care, and carried herself with grace. All of us at the Central Bank of Barbados will miss her.”
Sadie’s influence extended beyond the Bank, through her contributions to the Financial Stability Board’s Cross Border Payments Data and Identifiers Working Group, and through her faithful service to the Anglican Church, where she served as Chancellor of the Diocese of Barbados.
The Board of Directors, management, and staff extend heartfelt condolences to her father, Reverend William Dixon, siblings Cherri-Ann and Adrian, other relatives, her nieces Jahzara and Solange, and all who mourn her passing. Her legacy of service, integrity, and compassion will continue to inspire us. May she rest in peace.
