Governor Greenidge Receives Prestigious Alumni Award from Alleyne School

The Central Bank of Barbados is pleased to announce that Governor Dr. Kevin Greenidge has been selected to receive the prestigious Aliis Non Sibi Award from the Alleyne School Alumni Association at their Grand Reunion 2025 Awards dinner.

The award recognises Dr. Greenidge's exceptional contributions to economics and public service, particularly his instrumental role in Barbados's economic recovery and transformation, as well as his ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through the Kevin Greenidge Charitable Trust.

"I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition from my alma mater," said Governor Greenidge. "Alleyne School provided the foundational education that set me on my path in economics and public service. This award reflects not just my individual efforts, but the collective work of many dedicated professionals who have contributed to Barbados's economic resilience and recovery. I remain committed to using my platform to serve our nation and support those in need."

The award ceremony will take place on Friday, August 8, at the Sea Rocks Dome, Barbados Beach Club, Maxwell Coast Road, Christ Church, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Background on Governor Dr. Kevin Greenidge

Dr. Greenidge has served as Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados since March 2023, where he oversees the country's monetary policy and financial stability. His distinguished career in public service includes serving as Senior Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Barbados from 2018 to 2022, during which he played a pivotal role in designing and implementing the Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation (BERT) programme.

Prior to his return to Barbados, Dr. Greenidge spent seven years at the International Monetary Fund (2011-2018) as a Senior Economist, contributing to policy development and economic reviews across various developing countries. His earlier career included key positions at the Central Bank of Barbados, where he served as Director of the Research and Economic Analysis Department.

Dr. Greenidge holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nottingham, an M.Phil. in Economics with Distinction from the University of Cambridge, and a B.Sc. in Economics with First Class Honours from the University of the West Indies. His academic contributions include numerous publications in refereed journals focusing on economic growth, financial liberalization, and macroeconomic policy in small economies.

The Aliis Non Sibi Award, which translates to "For Others, Not for Self," reflects the Alleyne School's motto and recognises alumni who have demonstrated exceptional service to their community and country while maintaining strong connections to their educational roots.

"We are tremendously proud to honour Governor Dr. Greenidge, whose achievements in economics and public life exemplify the excellence we strive to instil in all Alleyne School students," said Hazeain King, President of the Alumni Association. "His continued support and mentorship of our institution demonstrates the lasting impact of an Alleyne School education."
