Sustainable Caribbean Energy Independence: Making It Happen.
This is the theme of the inaugural Caribbean conference to be held in Barbados at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre from November 10 to 11.
Organised by the Barbados Renewable Energy Association (BREA) in association with the Central Bank of Barbados, the conference will address the economic, policy, regulatory and technology issues associated with adopting energy conservation and energy planning to insulate regional economies against energy cost tied to fossil fuels.

The conference will also feature a trade exhibition to which major providers of services and products are being invited to participate. An important feature of the two-day conference will be a regional round table of ministers responsible for energy.
Senior officials from the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), the United States of America and the Seychelles are expected to attend the event.
Barbados Light & Power Co. Ltd has announced that winners of its recently-held schools competition for renewable energy projects, for which BREA was a partner, will be sponsored to exhibit at the conference.
BREA, which has a mandate to represent the interests of the energy sector, continues to reach out to sponsors and exhibitors to back the two-day event.
The conference Chairman is former energy Minister Clyde Griffith.
