Strengthening Economic Growth is the Focus of the 33rd Adlith Brown Memorial Lecture

Regional economist Dr. Arnold McIntyre will address the issue of economic growth in the Caribbean when he delivers the 33rd Adlith Brown Memorial Lecture, which takes place on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the Courtney Blackman Grande Salle of the Tom Adams Financial Centre.

Dr. McIntyre, who is Deputy Division Chief, Caribbean Division 1 at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will speak on the topic “The Caribbean Challenge: Strengthening Growth and Resilience.”

The topic is particularly timely given that the critical challenge facing regional economies is to unlock their growth potential and build economic resilience. Therefore, the Central Bank of Barbados is pleased to have Dr. McIntyre as our distinguished speaker. Before joining the IMF, the Grenadian-born economist worked with both the Caribbean Development Bank and the CARICOM Export Development Agency.

The Adlith Browne Memorial Lecture is held annually in a Caribbean country as a tribute to the life and work of Jamaican-born economist, Adlith Brown, a staunch regionalist with a deep understanding of the process and problems of policy-making with which regional central banks had to cope. Previous speakers have included the late William Demas, Compton Bourne and Sir Courtney Blackman.

The lecture is open to the public.
