Barbadians can now get alerts about press conferences and other updates from the Central Bank of Barbados via WhatsApp.
“There’s no question that people want to be kept up to date on what is happening in the economy, but given how busy we all are, it’s easy to miss important information. WhatsApp is one way to make sure that doesn’t happen,” explained Novaline Brewster, Chief of Corporate Communications at the Central Bank. “To use our upcoming quarterly economic review as an example, if you follow us on WhatsApp, you’ll actually get an alert right before the press conference begins as well as a link to the livestream.”
“To get these alerts from the Central Bank, you’ll need to opt in. It’s a two-step process: there’s a consent form where you submit your number. After that, you’ll receive a message from us. Just follow the prompt and that’s it. Then going forward, you get periodic updates about upcoming events and publications such as the release of the Financial Stability Report, an assessment of the health of Barbados’ financial institutions.”
