Barbados and Argentina will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations with the staging of La Négrophilie, a play about the life and works of American entertainer, Josephine Baker, on Saturday, August 11 at 8:00 p.m. The event is being organised by the Embassy of Argentina in association with the Central Bank of Barbados.

La Négrophilie explores issues of self-esteem and black self-love and stars Zakiya Iman Markland, a New York-based singer and actress and is directed by Argentine-born director and choreographer, Tatiana Pandiani. The performance will be followed by a question and answer session about the issues raised in the play.

The night will kick off with a tango exhibition by Argentine Dancers Victoria Crisci and Rodrigo Malpezzi followed by remarks by Gustavo Martinez Pandiani, Argentine Ambassador to Barbados.

La Négrophilie is open to the public and admission is free.
