In the past two decades, workers’ remittances flows to Barbados have grown steadily, representing the third largest source of foreign exchange earnings in the current account. The aim of this paper is to create an awareness of this ‘overlooked’ source of foreign exchange earnings to the Barbadian economy. The note highlights the trends in remittances over the period 1987 – 2004 and examines some compilation issues.
