The Central Bank of Barbados advises the public that the BiMPay e-wallet will be available for download starting at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, immediately after the BiMPay rail goes live.
At that time, Barbadians will be able to download the BiMPay app from either the App Store or Google Play and link it to their current bank or credit union account[1], or, for those without an existing account, to link it to a financial institution that will act as a custodian for their funds.
BiMPay is the Central Bank of Barbados’ new national instant payment system, which will be the underlying infrastructure that will power all online transactions between Barbados’ six commercial banks and three largest credit unions. The BiMPay e-wallet is an app developed by the Central Bank that is powered by the BiMPay rail. While the Central Bank owns both the rail and the e-wallet, users’ relationship remains with their financial institution, which continues to be their primary point of contact for any support.
