The Central Bank of Barbados advises the public that some users are experiencing delays in receiving registration codes required to complete setup of the BiMPay e-wallet application.
BiMPay has received an exceptionally strong public response, with more than 11,000 downloads within minutes of launch. This high level of activity generated a large volume of automated registration emails, which has affected delivery to some Gmail addresses.
The Central Bank and its technical partners are actively working to resolve the issue. In the meantime, users with non-Gmail email addresses have continued to receive their registration codes and complete the registration process.
After receiving the BiMPay registration code, users must also receive a token from their commercial bank or credit union to link the e-wallet to their existing account. The Bank is working with participating financial institutions to ensure that access to those tokens is clear, simple, and convenient for customers.
The Central Bank wishes to reassure the public that the BiMPay payment rail is operating normally. This issue is limited to the e-wallet registration process and is not linked to the broader BiMPay infrastructure or payment processing services.
We understand that this delay is frustrating, and we apologise to all affected users. Ensuring full access to the BiMPay e-wallet is our immediate priority, and we will provide further updates as the matter is resolved.
