This paper presents a proposal for a Caribbean Unit of Account (CUA) to facilitate trading in regional currencies by financial institutions, thereby ensuring convertibility of all regional currencies (including the Trinidad & Tobago dollar). The CUA will be seen as the denominator for a new Caricom Travellers Cheque.
