Global technological innovation and growth has skyrocketed in recent times, with retailers and consumers always anticipating the launch of the next big product to be released. However, the speed at which consumers demand these items varies considerably from those who must have it first, to the “laggards” of society. Therefore, this paper seeks to provide some insight into the factors contributing to the various speeds at which innovations in the smartphone technology market are diffused into Barbadian society. The results are sure to be useful to retailers and distributors when marketing these products in the local market.
