So I thank you very much for paving a way for me to do so,” Jamilia commented after receiving her award at a ceremony at the Campus. Alesia, an economics student, will receive $BDS 8,000 for two academic years. This two-year award is open to students who have been accepted by UWI to read for a B.SC. The young ladies hope to pursue careers in economics, explaining that they find the area of study exciting and one that will afford them the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to society. They will get a head start, when they join the Bank in the summer for a three-month internship. The Bank inaugurated the scholarships in 1997 in celebration of its 25th anniversary.
