Barbadians are being invited to
visit the Central Bank of Barbados on Tuesday, May 2 when that organisation
celebrates its 45th anniversary with an Open Day.
“There are a lot of people who see
the Central Bank building in the distance or even pass by it daily but have
never been inside,” said Arlene Estwick, chairperson of the 45th Anniversary celebrations committee. “We want to use this opportunity to share
the Bank with the public.”

Estwick previewed what will be in
store for visitors on that day, “We’ll be having an exhibition village so that
people can interact with our staff and learn more about what we do and how it
impacts their lives. We’ll also be touring several areas of the Bank, including
the top floor, which has some of the most breath-taking views of the island;
and we’ll be offering our guests a behind the scenes look at the Frank
Collymore Hall, so they can see how shows come together.”

Attendees at the Open Day will also
be able to participate in “Know Your Money” sessions, which teach people how to
protect themselves from being taken advantage of by counterfeiters.
“We do so many things at the Bank
beyond what most people assume, so this is the perfect chance for people to get
a feel for the Bank’s work and to get to know us. I encourage everyone to come
out,” Estwick remarked.
The CBB 45th Anniversary
Open Day will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. While there is no admission,
people are encouraged to pre-register for the tours at https://centralbankofbarbados.setmore.com/
