Senior officials from two of the region’s biggest financial companies will participate in a keynote panel discussion entitled “Repositioning Barbados’ Financial Sector” at the Central Bank of Barbados and Financial Services Commission (FSC) hosted Domestic Financial Institutions Conference, which takes place on Thursday, March 28, 2019.
During the session, J. Edward Clarke, the Chief Operating Officer and General Manager – Barbados Operations, of Sagicor Life Inc. and Ronald Harford, Chairman of Republic Financial Holdings Limited, along with Dr. Justin Ram, the Caribbean Development Bank’s Director of Economics will explore ways in which Barbados can strengthen and expand its financial sector.
“This is a very timely conversation to have in light of the ongoing effort to transform our economy,” said Novaline Brewster, Chief of Corporate Communications at the Central Bank. “So we are very pleased to have a panel with this level of expertise and experience.”
Brewster revealed that while the conference is an invitation-only event, the public can watch the panel discussion online. “We consider this to be a subject that is of broad national interest, so we will be livestreaming it on our Facebook page, website, and YouTube channel. The session is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and we encourage everyone to log on and watch.”
The Domestic Financial Institutions Conference, now in its tenth year, is an annual forum at which senior officials from Barbados’ financial sector discuss issues that affect their operations as well as the wider economy.
